CryoXtract Instruments, LLC is developing a novel technology for extracting aliquots (small volumes of about 100 micro-liters) from frozen biological samples without having to first thaw the samples. By maintaining frozen temperatures during the extraction process, the samples are not exposed to freeze-thaw cycles that can damage the biological integrity of the samples. Even for biospecimens that are not susceptible to freeze-thaw damage, the technology provides the advantage of high throughput processing due to the elimination of thaw and freeze steps.
