CryoXtract Study Shows How to Significantly Decrease the Bioanalytical Impact of Analyte Degradation in Thawed Biological Samples

(Woburn, MA) February 22, 2016 - Degradation of molecules in thawed biological samples is one of the biggest challenges for all bioanalytical laboratories. A study done by CryoXtract in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) shows how the use of frozen aliquotting can improve the reliability of bioanalytical data by eliminating freeze-thaw induced degradation of labile drug molecules. Key benefits include the generation of higher quality pre-clinical pharmacokinetic (PK) data, more accurate dose selection for toxicity studies, improved reproducibility of incurred sample reanalysis (ISR) results, and the identification and validation of previously elusive biomarkers.

Co-authored by Glenn Smith and Joseph Fraone, this study was selected as an SLAS2016 innovation award finalist and a featured podium presentation at the January conference. The research will be published in one of SLAS’s two peer reviewed journals, JBS and JALA, later in the year.

CryoXtract's CXT 350 Receives Positive Independent Evaluation

(Woburn, MA) February, 2016 - In an article published in the January 2016 issue of Biopreservation and Biobanking, CryoXtract's CXT 350 frozen sample aliquotter was independently evaluated for its ability to take multiple, targeted cores from a single tissue or fecal biospecimen while maintaining the quality of the parent and cores. Researchers, including a member of the team at the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg (IBBL), found that the CXT350 has the potential to positively impact and maintain biospecimen quality for research. Much of IBBL's work centers around evaluation of sample handling practices for the purposes of maintaining sample quality.

A Comparison of Yield, Quality, and Functional Integrity for Human Genomic DNA Extracted from Fresh and Frozen Whole Blood Using Frozen Aliquotting Technology

BioProcessing Journal, Spring 2014, Volume 13/Issue 1

As the institutionalized collection, storage, and distribution of bio-samples becomes more commonplace, the attention and adherence to strict and systematic sample handling practices is paramount. An important component of such efforts is the maintenance of bio-samples in a safe and controllable state (e.g., -80°C storage) apart from any downstream processes the samples could be subjected to in the future. CryoXtract Instruments' CXT750 Frozen Aliquotter provides repeated and reproducible access to a variety of frozen bio-fluid samples by maintaining samples at -80°C, thus eliminating undesirable freeze-thaw cycles during sample handling processes.
